ALTAMURA SICILIANO ANGELO

Altamura Angelo, son of Saverio Altamura and Comasia Siciliano, was born on November 20, 1926, in Mottola, in the province of Taranto. He left Italy in 1953 for San José from Panama to join his brother, Altamura Francesco (who had already emigrated in 1952), to work with him in a business he had started (a bakery), living at his brother’s house. After a few years, he met the woman who would become his wife: Maisto Maria, daughter of Maisto Tommaso and Maisto Cristina, born on January 4, 1931, in Melito di Napoli. She arrived in San José from Panama in 1956, alone, on the ship Amerigo Vespucci, to join her sister Anna Maisto, who had already emigrated in 1954 with her family. They got married in 1957 in a room set up for wedding ceremonies, as there was still no church, while the celebration was held in a hall.
