Melloni Umberto was born in 1914 in Montecchio, Province of Reggio Emilia. Ordained OFM Conventual Priest, on June 2, 1943 He was a missionary in the Southern Zone of Costa Rica in 1946. He arrived in the Colonia de San Vito at the beginning of 1953. On April 8, 1953, he performed the first baptism of the Filial de San Vito from the Parish of San José de Golfito. He was a radio technician, he was in charge of starting the transmission of Radio Emmaús that February 18, 1962, on the 1260 AM frequency. He installed the first semi-automatic telephone exchange in Costa Rica. He created a system to help young people train for work as mechanics, electricians, bricklayers, he founded the Catholic youth, which was a club in a building made by the father, to help young people maintain good morals, to through sports, theater, car tours throughout and outside Coto Brus. He died on February 6, 1965 in a plane crash in Los Andes. His remains rest in the San Vito cemetery.
