Politi Cavalera Fernando. He was born in 1935, in Ruffano, Province of Lecce. Son of Riziere Politi and Giuseppa Cavalera. He arrived in 1953, single, accompanying his uncle Mario Cavalera hired by the SICA as cabinetmakers. In San Vito he married Genoveffa (Gina) Casalino Marchione. Gladys and Renzo were born to the Politi Casalino family in San Vito. He stayed in San Vito even though his family had returned to Italy. The hope of doing something, having his land with the hope of a better future, was his motivation. In San Vito he worked as a cabinetmaker for the SICA and then developed his activities: he was the first barber in the Colony, a coffee farmer. Fernando and Gina have been married for more than 60 years, being the last remaining couple of Italian immigrants married in San Vito, where it is common to see them around their home.
